TRAVELOGUE: HAWAII, MAUI

June 6, 2018 by bettina No Comments
Throwback to our trip to Hawaii, Maui back in August 2015. This homepage didn’t exist back than, but I decided to share it because I love to travel. Maybe some of you are planning to visit beautiful Maui soon and looking for a few more tips.

My Husband and I booked this trip super last minute, I would say less than 8 hours before we jumped onto our plane. Trust me, I’m spontaneous but this was more than that. After a short night we found ourselves in the backseats of an Uber heading to the airport. Another 12 hours later and we arrived in paradise. The sun was shining, the temperatures were in the 80’s and we saw our first local band including two traditional Hula Dancers at the airport. What a start into your vacation. Our hotel was the Wailea Beach Mariott Resort directly located at Wailea Beach with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. The location is perfect if you love watching breathtaking sunsets over and over again. Wailea Beach is located at the Southern part of the island, which is besides the sunsets on of the best spots on the island for a beach vacation in my opinion: Simply because of the views and the rainfall. Most of the rain usually falls on the North and East Side of Maui.
After our arrival, which was around 4PM local time, we went to the beach. I have no idea how long we sat there together and watched the waves followed by a late night dinner. The next day was our Wedding Anniversary and we decided to stay in the hotel and enjoy our time together.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We all know it, we all do it, every single year, over and over again: new years resolutions. Let’s be honest, how many times were you thinking about something and definitely planning on doing but then ended up not achieving it? I know it’s frustrating and we’ve all been there at some point. Many people actually plan on changing their life: trying to live a healthier and more active lifestyle, or signing up for a gym membership, etc…but when spring comes around the corner, well let’s say it is not our number one priority anymore, right? But how can we change something that actually lasts? Are we able to create new habits and how does it work?

A MORNING WITH KAYLA ITSINES

December 18, 2017 by bettina No Comments
Yesterday, I attended the event “A morning with Kayla Itsines” in New York City. The morning included a breakfast, a presentation of Kayla Itsines’ second book “The Bikini Body Motivation & Habits Guide” including a signed copy of it, a goody bag – I’ll list below all the items that were included – and a meet & greet. The ticket price was $58.37.

As you might know, Kayla was the one who changed my lifestyle a couple of months ago as I started my fitness journey with her BBG programs. Now, that I’ve gained a lot of knowledge in this field, I still think that her programs are a great guide for a healthier and active lifestyle.

This book tour event was the second time I met Kayla in person. The first time was at the beginning of this year at a BBG Meetup in New York City, where a lot of girls got the chance to work out with her. Since this first one, I always try to attend her events. Many of you haven’t been to one so I thought it might be helpful if I would share my thoughts about it.

98% of women surveyed said they felt insecure at some point. - Kayla Itsines

Yesterday’s event was dedicated to her second book and a perfect chance to pick up some personal tips on how to stay motivated and on track with your health and fitness journey.

MY PERSONAL FITNESS JOURNEY

December 11, 2017 by bettina 1 Comment

I‘m Bettina Schoeps, a 20-something German girl living in New York City and chasing my dreams. I grew up in a really small village in Germany and was a pretty active kid. I biked around town all day long with friends, played soccer outside for hours and enjoyed being active and whirly.

When I grew up – let’s say after I reached puberty – my interests changed and being active was not one of them anymore. I still played tennis once a week which I had started during my kindergarten days, but that was it. When I turned 18 and was finally allowed to drive my own car I refused to walk around totally. I drove everywhere. Unfortunately this lifestyle including partying and unhealthy eating habits continued until we moved to New York City in 2014.

When I look back I think moving overseas was the biggest and most challenging move I’ve ever done in my life. At that time my English was pretty bad as I didn’t practice it and in my past jobs it had not been required. So I found myself kind of lost in this concrete jungle and had no idea what to do with myself. I only knew one thing: I definitely did not want to work in my old job again and I definitely didn’t want to sit in a little office for several hours a day, and not enjoying a single second scared me. New York City was and I guess will always be a super fascinating and pulsating city. Inspired by it, I started my very first blog and wrote about fashion and lifestyle. I learned a lot about social media and figured out that the fashion circus out there was also not my biggest passion. I still enjoy my clothes and especially my shoe collection but I think I’m not that kind of person to share it and only be focused on it every single day. I actually prefer sweatpants and workout gear.
